The ROAR is the newest HBCU (Historically Black College and University) in the country located in the epicenter of musical excellence, sunny Miami Florida, most commonly called South Florida. While the band premiered in 2020, the foundation is built on our dynamic staff comprised of the country's most talented and experienced educators, musicians, and performers. The ROAR is led by legendary educator and musician Dr. Richard Beckford who brings more than 30 years of experience of building stellar band programs and successful leaders - many which have gone on to be world changers. The ROAR is positioned to be a very valuable and innovative addition to the band world and college experience helping to bring a new, fresh flavor to the culture. We want to empower students to graduate, go out into the world as leaders, and have an unforgettable college experience they will treasure for life!
